Lady Of Grace

...A Work In Progress...

When Jesus spoke again to the people he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." JOHN 8:12

FOR IT IS BY GRACE YOU HAVE BEEN SAVED, THROUGH FAITH - AND THIS NOT FROM YOURSELVES, IT IS THE GIFT OF GOD - NOT BY WORKS, SO THAT NO ONE CAN BOAST. FOR WE ARE GOD'S WORKMANSHIP, CREATED IN CHRIST JESUS TO DO GOOD WORKS, WHICH GOD PREPARED IN ADVANCE FOR US TO DO." EPHESIANS 2:8-10

Morning Prayers...

This morning on my way to work...

I was listening to the radio. I like country music... (the newer stuff)... and Rascal Flatts is one of my favorite groups. I have one of their CD's... but this morning one of their songs came on right when I started my car.

I have listened to this song many times. It is one that you do not hear on the radio often... if at all... and I was surprised. As I listened to it... I was singing along with it. My heart flooded with heaviness... and my eyes filled with tears and I was sobbing. This song has never affected me this way before. This is the song... it is called "Skin" by Rascal Flatts... please listen to it... and I will explain what happened next.

Immediately after the song was over... I had thought of my twin brothers. I felt an extreme intensity to pray for my brothers. I knew in my heart... It was "brothers" that I needed to pray for.

My mama had died of cancer on August 9th, 2000. She had a tumor wrapped around her left kidney. The doctors said that it had to come out... right away. Before she had been diagnosed, she was very ill. She could not keep anything down as far as food... and whatever did go down... didn't stay... it went through her faster than she could get to the bathroom.

I just prayed that they would never have to be diagnosed with something like that. I prayed for their safety and for them to have good health. My heart was intense with the need to pray for my "brothers".

I got to work today... and my friend/dept. manager, Rosetta, asked me "Did I tell you what's been going on?" I told her "No". Knowing Rosetta... it could be anything... from work... to her kids... to homelife... just anything. Out of the blue... she said... "You are just not going to believe what is going on with my brother. He is so sick right now, Suz. He has been throwing up and having diarrhea so bad. He went into the doctor and not only have they found out that he has diabetes... he has cancer on his kidney and they have to take it out right away."

Instantly... I got chills all over my body. I told her about my mother. I told her that out of my selfishness, and knowing what I know now... I wished she would have never had her kidney removed. She asked me why. I told her that they took it out... and she started doing a little better... but the cancer... in three months time... took her life... and was all over inside her whole body. I told her that I would pray for her brother and that I hoped that they weighed all of the options before they make their final decision on surgery. She thanked me for telling her about my mom.

I went back into the bakery with an intensity in my heart. Still thinking about the prayers that I sent heavenward, not but a half hour prior to her telling me this, as I was on my way to work. I found myself alone in the bakery. I prayed for Rosetta's brother. Again... chills covered my whole body.

I told Rosetta about what had happened to me on the way to work this morning when she had come back into the bakery. I also told her that I had just prayed for her brother. She wanted to cry... and so did I. I think had we been elsewhere... I could have had the opportunity to share more with her about God. I know that she knows about God... but she has had a hard life... and I don't know where she is right now with him. She did tell me that she has done alot of praying for him too.

I am asking just to keep Rosetta... and her brother... in your prayers. I will be... that is for sure.

God is so awesome! He moves in such a way that amazes me every day. I would like to put some good verses from God's word to this. The power of prayer is very huge... and I believe it can reach beyond what we initially intended it to do.

I live each day the best I can. I thank God for every tiny little thing that I have. I would like to write the book that is in my heart to write... or should I say... finish it. God sees us at the core of who we are... and He still loves us anyway. He is the reason and purpose I exist in this world... and He has entrusted me with a family to care for... and with a heart to share with others how much He loves everyone. (This is a note to self... "Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. Malachi 3:10")

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. ~1 Corinthians 13~
