Lady Of Grace

...A Work In Progress...

When Jesus spoke again to the people he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." JOHN 8:12

FOR IT IS BY GRACE YOU HAVE BEEN SAVED, THROUGH FAITH - AND THIS NOT FROM YOURSELVES, IT IS THE GIFT OF GOD - NOT BY WORKS, SO THAT NO ONE CAN BOAST. FOR WE ARE GOD'S WORKMANSHIP, CREATED IN CHRIST JESUS TO DO GOOD WORKS, WHICH GOD PREPARED IN ADVANCE FOR US TO DO." EPHESIANS 2:8-10

"Of David"

I was told once that I was "A David". Correct me if I am wrong... David was a great and powerful warrior. I was also told by someone else while I was receiving prayer for something that I was a "mighty warrior with a powerful ministry". The two people that told me these things... probably don't even know that each other exist as humans. So these words MUST have come from God.
~***~
In my thoughts of childhood bible stories told to me at Sunday school and Christian school as a youngster... I remember David fighting the big giant called Goliath. David was a small person compared to Goliath... yet David had no fear... because God was with him. He didn't take a machine gun to war with him... or tear gas... or taser guns...(not that he would have had the opportunity to take these things anyway)... he did not go up to Goliath looking like Rambo... he did not have war paint or look like a sniper with night vision goggles and a flack jacket all dressed in black... David took 5 small stones from the river... and a slingshot. Child's toys in this day and age. (actually... and sadly... some child's toys these days are the machine guns)
~***~
David took with him 5 stones... faith... trust... and the protection of God... and he killed the giant with one stone from his slingshot. David probably got really good at shooting stones from his slingshot in the fields while he was protecting the sheep! (I imagine a guy could get pretty bored watching sheep eat all day long.) I know that he also got good practice keeping the predators away from the sheep.
~***~
These words David said to the giant, Goliath, before he killed him... "You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the Lord will hand you over to me, and I'll strike you down and cut off your head. Today I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel. All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord's, and he will give all of you into our hands." 1 Samuel 17:45-49
~***~
The part I love the best about what David said was..."...I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty...it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord's..."
~***~
I have not had many words to write about the past few days. Actually... I have had quite alot... it's all the thinking that has kept me busy.

I was reading this morning in Psalms. Let me share two of my favorites with you.
~***~
Psalm 138
Of David
I will praise you, O Lord, with all my heart;
before the "gods" I will sing your praise.
I will bow down toward your holy temple
and will praise your name for your love and faithfulness,
for you have exalted above all things your name and your word.
When I called, you answered me;
you made me bold and stouthearted.
***
May all the kings of the earth praise you, O Lord,
when they hear the words of your mouth.
May they sing of the ways of the Lord,
for the glory of the Lord is great.
***
Though the Lord is on high, he looks upon the lowly,
but the proud he knows from afar.
Though I walk in the midst of trouble,
you preserve my life;
you stretch out your hand against the anger of my foes,
with your right hand you save me.
The Lord will fulfill [his purpose] for me;
your love, O Lord, endures forever --
do not abandon the works of your hands.
~***~
Psalm 139
For the director of music. Of David.
A Psalm.
O Lord, you have searched me and you know me.
You know when I sit and when I rise;
you perceive my thoughts from afar.
You discern my going out and my lying down;
you are familiar with all my ways.
Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O Lord.
***
You hem me in -- behind and before;
you have laid your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
too lofty for me to attain.
***
Where can I go from your Spirit?
Where can I flee from your presence?
If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
If I rise oh the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,
even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast.
***
If I say, "Surely the darkness will hide me
and the light become night around me,"
even the darkness will not be dark to you;
the night will shine like the day,
for darkness is as light to you.
***
For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother's womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place.
When I was woven together in the depths of the earth,
your eyes saw my unformed body.
***
All the days ordained for me
were written in your book
before one of them came to be.
***
How precious to me are your thoughts, O God!
How vast is the sum of them!
Were I to count them,
they would outnumber the grains of sand.
When I am awake, I am still with you.
***
If only you would slay the wicked, O God!
Away from me, you bloodthirsty men!
They speak of you with evil intent;
your adversaries misuse your name.
Do I not hate those who hate you, O Lord,
and abhor those who rise up against you?
I have nothing but hatred for them;
I count them my enemies.
***
Search me, O God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
See if there is any offensive way in me,
and lead me int he way everlasting.
~***~
After reading these... I feel a great need for a huge *SIGH*. I am proud to be "a David". David loved God so very much. And... God loved David. My heart is quite like his I believe. I have fought many battles in my life. More so than many others... yet others have battles of their own just as troublesome.
~***~
My praise goes to the Lord... because he is the reason... THE ONLY REASON... that I have made it through all of the things I have battled so far. He is my strength... He is my foundation... He is my refuge... He is my love... He is my honor... He is my savior... He is my heavenly Father. His... are the arms that I long to crawl into at the end of this life... and whose face I long to see. To have Him hug me to his chest and smooth down my frazzled hair and say to me... "I so love you, my child."
~***~
My life is nothing without Him. His words I long to have inscribed upon every place in my heart. When I... "want to do it all by myself"... God gently... (as a Father would)... allows me to try it... then... just as gently... He outstretches his arms to me as I come running to him.

Our Father in heaven... touch Rebekah in her time of need. Wrap YOUR hands around the hands of her doctors. Guide them and bring an outstanding outcome to her surgery. Make little Rebekah a miracle that will glorify your name Lord. In Jesus mighty name we all pray... Amen.

Being a "man after God's own heart" is a great calling. What a testimony you can be!

What a great post this was. It is an honour to be called someone after God's own heart. In my thinking, if people have confirmed something to you, and especially if they did it without the other knowing, etc. then it is from God. God can use His people to speak to you, such as the case with you.

Glad to see you are back to posting again. Have missed reading your blog greatly!

I live each day the best I can. I thank God for every tiny little thing that I have. I would like to write the book that is in my heart to write... or should I say... finish it. God sees us at the core of who we are... and He still loves us anyway. He is the reason and purpose I exist in this world... and He has entrusted me with a family to care for... and with a heart to share with others how much He loves everyone. (This is a note to self... "Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. Malachi 3:10")

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. ~1 Corinthians 13~
