Lady Of Grace

...A Work In Progress...

When Jesus spoke again to the people he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." JOHN 8:12

FOR IT IS BY GRACE YOU HAVE BEEN SAVED, THROUGH FAITH - AND THIS NOT FROM YOURSELVES, IT IS THE GIFT OF GOD - NOT BY WORKS, SO THAT NO ONE CAN BOAST. FOR WE ARE GOD'S WORKMANSHIP, CREATED IN CHRIST JESUS TO DO GOOD WORKS, WHICH GOD PREPARED IN ADVANCE FOR US TO DO." EPHESIANS 2:8-10

Country Roads... Take Me Home...

Almost heaven... West Virginia...
Blue Ridge Mountains...Shenandoah river
Life is old there...Older than the trees...
Younger than the mountains...
Growin’ like a breeze
Country roads, take me home...
To the place... I belong...

West Virginia... mountain momma...
Take me home...country roads
All my memories... gathered 'round her...
Miner’s lady... stranger to blue water
Dark and dusty...painted on the sky
Misty taste of moonshine...
Teardrops in my eye
Country roads, take me home...
To the place... I belong
West Virginia... mountain momma...
Take me home... country roads
I hear her voice...
In the mornin’ hour she calls me...

The radio reminds me of my home far away
And drivin’ down the road I get a feelin’...
That I should have been home yesterday...yesterday...
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong...

West virginia... mountain momma...
Take me home...country roads
Country roads, take me home...
To the place I belong...

West Virginia... mountain momma...
Take me home...country roads
Take me home, now country roads
Take me home, now country roads
(Words and music by Bill Danoff, Taffy Nivert and John Denver)

A few nights ago... I had a dream that my Mama and my Grammy (my mom's mom) came down to visit me from heaven. They had been in this place where I could go and visit them. My Grammy came first. She was laying on a bed. She was so happy to see me... so proud of me... I remember her smiling at me. Then, to my surprise... she sang me the song... "Country Roads" by John Denver. I thought that was oddly strange... as my Grammy used to sing gospel songs on an old radio show many moons ago. She was not much into other music I don't believe... but I found the song that she sang in her sweet yet scratchy voice... very comforting. She then said to me that she had to go back... but that my mom was coming to visit me too.

Still in my dream... I came back the next day to see if my Mama was at the place that I could go visit her... and she was! She was laying in the same bed as my Grammy was the day before. She was so happy to see me! And for me... well... I felt as if I had been given special priveledge from God to spend time with those I love.

We talked about all kinds of things. We talked about cake decorating... which is a gift that my mother and I both shared. We talked also about different kinds of flowers that she liked. Not cake flowers... but real flowers. She had given me a folded up piece of paper that had dried blossoms of Lavendar tucked inside it. I remember opening it up and the fragrance was so sweet and pure.

I asked her how long she was allowed to visit with me. She said that she didn't know how long she could stay... but to come back every day to see if she was still there. I did too!

The second day... she told me a little bit about heaven. She said that she couldn't wait until we could all be there together. I told her that I had seen Grammy the day before she showed up. She told me that my Aunt Norma was also up there. She also said that my Aunt Dorcille would be there too... but she wasn't quite ready yet to go.

(My Aunt Dorcille is Denise's www.pharoahstreasure.blogspot.com mom. She is still alive and lives in the same town as I do.)

The third day... she asked me to just sit with her until she had to go back... so I did. I laid my head down on my Mama... and she just held me. She... too... sang "Country Roads, Take Me Home" to me.

I felt so comforted. I could feel my Mama's soft arms holding me. I could feel her breathe under my head. I could hear her voice so soft all around me.

Then I woke up... she had gone back to heaven.

When Denise and I were little... our mom's loved John Denver. They owned ever album... yes... black vinyl album... that he ever made. We knew every word to every song that he ever sang at a very young age. We even got to go see John Denver in concert once. So to tie this all together... to hear that particular song was quite out of the ordinary. I have not listened to any of those songs since the day of my Mama's funeral almost six years ago. I woke from my dream singing the song. Tears fell from my eyes... as I played the cassette from my bag of things from my mother's funeral.

It makes me wonder... What kind of road... is going to take me home... to the place... where I belong?

I love ya Niecie... I hope you enjoyed this as much as I enjoyed posting about it.

I'm singin' the harmony right along with ya! I have never forgotten that song, nor any other from any of those albums. I think we were as much in love with John Denver as our mothers were. (because THEY loved him.) That's what our mother's have meant to us. We just want to be like them. Here's one for ya...ya kinda have to adjust some of the words, though.

Poems, Prayers And Promises

I've been lately thinking about my life's time, all the things I've done and how it's been.
And I can't help believing in my own mind, I know I'm gonna hate to see it end.
I've seen a lot of sunshine, slept out in the rain, spent a night or two all on my own.
I've known my lady's pleasures, had myself some friends, spent a time or two in my own home.

I have to say it now, it's been good life all in all, it's really fine to have a chance to hang around.
and lie there by the fire and watch the evening tire
while all my friends and my old lady sit and pass a pipe around.
And talk of poems and prayers and promises and things that we believe in.
How sweet it is to love someone, how right it is to care.
How long it's been since yesterday, what about tomorrow
and what about our dreams and all the memories we share?

Days they pass so quickly now, the nights are seldom long.
Time around me whispers when it's cold.
The changes somehow frightens me, still I have to smile. It turns me on to think of growing old.
For though my life's been good to me there's still so much to do.
So many things my mind has never known.
I'd like to raise a family, I'd like to sail away and dance across the mountains on the moon.

Love ya! Niecie

It wasn't so much about the song that I was writing... but the fact that I got to visit with my mom one night... and the possibilities of catching a glimpse of heaven once in a while to give us hope!

I live each day the best I can. I thank God for every tiny little thing that I have. I would like to write the book that is in my heart to write... or should I say... finish it. God sees us at the core of who we are... and He still loves us anyway. He is the reason and purpose I exist in this world... and He has entrusted me with a family to care for... and with a heart to share with others how much He loves everyone. (This is a note to self... "Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. Malachi 3:10")

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. ~1 Corinthians 13~
