Lady Of Grace

...A Work In Progress...

When Jesus spoke again to the people he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." JOHN 8:12

FOR IT IS BY GRACE YOU HAVE BEEN SAVED, THROUGH FAITH - AND THIS NOT FROM YOURSELVES, IT IS THE GIFT OF GOD - NOT BY WORKS, SO THAT NO ONE CAN BOAST. FOR WE ARE GOD'S WORKMANSHIP, CREATED IN CHRIST JESUS TO DO GOOD WORKS, WHICH GOD PREPARED IN ADVANCE FOR US TO DO." EPHESIANS 2:8-10

My Supervisor Is An Oyster!

I decided rather than to hire a hitman to take out my irritating supervisor... I would pray for her. God knows how hard that was for me to do. Isn't that horrible? Why do we let things get to us so much before we realize that not only do WE need to ask for forgiveness for letting hatred soil our hearts... but we need to pray for OTHERS who need Gods love in their own hearts.

Imagine going through life not knowing how the unconditional true love of God feels. It must be a cold and lonely feeling. I have felt a burden in my heart for my irritating supervisor for quite a while now. She glares at me with daggers... and I feel them as they puncture my heart. It is almost as if something in her knows that I said a prayer for her to come to the Lord. Maybe something in her feels a little uncomfortable. I know that I sure feel uncomfortable! It is hard to pray for the soul of someone that you cannot stand! I honestly think it is easier to pray for her than it is to fight against it.

As I have spoke of before in some of my previous posts... even though I do not have anything in common with the kind of person she is... I do need to love her as a human being... and see her the way that the Lord sees her. I need to also find in my own heart the same kind of love that God has for her.

The devil sure wants me to forget about her... and not care about her soul. The part of me that feels harrassed by her all the time would love to just say... "Forget it! I don't care where you end up!"... But the part of me that loves the Lord says... Who am I to say that she doesn't deserve the same eternal joy and happiness and love of God that I want for myself and others... We are all God's children... we all have the rights to his love and the rights to have the opportunity to inherit the kingdom of God!

At the end of every day I feel completely beat up. Not physically beat up... but spiritually and emotionally whipped!

I keep thinking... "God... please tell me that I didn't ask you for a soul to help bring to you. Please tell me that she is not the one. Ok, God... so maybe I did ask... but why her? Couldn't you make it someone that I could at least get along with? You realize God... that this will be a tough one. I'm not sure if I can do it. I can't even talk to her at work! What makes you think I will be able to talk to her about YOU! She is the farthest thing from being Godly that I can think of!"

Then... yesterday... I thought of an ugly, slimey, greenish grey, snot-like oyster covered in a hard, sharp shell. Yep... sounds like my irritating supervisor! Then I thought about what oysters can do... or more so... what God can create inside an oyster. If a piece of sand... (which by the way, God created each piece of sand uniquely)... if that sand gets inside an oyster... it causes an irritation. From the outside of the oyster... you cannot tell anything is different. I bet the oyster can tell there is something in there not quite right though! Over a period of time... the sand becomes a beautiful pearl... but no one even knows it's there until the oyster opens up.

Perhaps... my IRRITATING supervisor... is an oyster. Perhaps her inner irritation is the prayer that I said for her in regards to wanting her soul to belong to God. Perhaps... that one prayer is changing who she is on the inside. Perhaps... no one will see the pearl inside her until God is ready for it to be seen.

I guess instead of wanting to hire a hitman... maybe I should just rely on the "BIG MAN" upstairs to do HIS work on her. Then... she may become the most precious jewel in the crown of souls... Go Figure!

"Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity."~Colossians 3:12-14

I've had a few oyster supervisors myself. Luckily, my prayers for them to be "taken out" resulted in their transfer to other stores...lol. Actually, I'm kidding. sort of.
This is a wonderful way to look at it, and I know that God will bless both you and your supervisor.

I live each day the best I can. I thank God for every tiny little thing that I have. I would like to write the book that is in my heart to write... or should I say... finish it. God sees us at the core of who we are... and He still loves us anyway. He is the reason and purpose I exist in this world... and He has entrusted me with a family to care for... and with a heart to share with others how much He loves everyone. (This is a note to self... "Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. Malachi 3:10")

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. ~1 Corinthians 13~
