Lady Of Grace

...A Work In Progress...

When Jesus spoke again to the people he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." JOHN 8:12

FOR IT IS BY GRACE YOU HAVE BEEN SAVED, THROUGH FAITH - AND THIS NOT FROM YOURSELVES, IT IS THE GIFT OF GOD - NOT BY WORKS, SO THAT NO ONE CAN BOAST. FOR WE ARE GOD'S WORKMANSHIP, CREATED IN CHRIST JESUS TO DO GOOD WORKS, WHICH GOD PREPARED IN ADVANCE FOR US TO DO." EPHESIANS 2:8-10

Into My Hands...

~*~My Mama drew this picture... of her own hand~*~

From an early age... I knew that I was created to do "something creative".

..... Funny.......

I sit here sometimes and just look at my hands. I wonder if my Mama ever did the same. I wonder if she ever thought of all the things God made her hands to do.

.... Seems odd....

I want to cry... just sitting here looking at my silly old hands. My wedding band is about 3 sizes too big and it flops around. My fingers are long... and the middle fingers on both hands have always been crooked from the top joint to the tips. I have a piece of lead from a pencil..... from a very sharp pencil... that I jabbed into the palm of my hand in 8th grade.... I missed the hole on the pencil sharpener... hmmmm... must have been sharp enough. I have a scar on my right palm from my surgery last January. My fingernails are short... they are too hard to work with being long... but I prefer nice nails. I have a few calouses and some of my joints on my fingers are a little more lumpy than they used to be. I have a scar on my left palm where I mistakenly inserted the blade of an exacto knife... the whole blade... owW!.... and a couple other scars on the fingers of my left hand that I don't know where they came from.

Strange that I would want to cry over my silly old hands....

I guess the part that makes me so thoughtful about them... is what was passed down to me... from my Mama's hands. God gave her the gift and talent to create artwork... from an ordinary piece of paper and pencil. To take a paint brush and bring a canvas to life. He also gave her the gift and talent to take a piece of cake and a tube of icing... and create another form of art. He gave her fingers that could play a piano and organ by just listening to the notes. He gave her me... and my brothers... so she could have a hand to hold in hers when she taught us how to walk.... and a hand to hold as she laid in her bed the day she went to see Jesus.

I look at my silly old hands... and I am thankful... for the gifts God gave me. The ability to take an ordinary piece of paper and pencil... and to take a brush and bring a canvas to life... and the ability to take a piece of cake and a tube of icing... and fingers that can caress a keyboard filled with words just about like playing a piano at times... a daughter's hand that I have held during countless days waiting for her daddy to get out of the hospital... my silly old hands... they have held so much... yet the one thing they cannot do in this lifetime again... is to touch the hand of the one who passed so much...

Interesting post Suzii. Hands are the second thing I notice about people, the first is their eyes.
I look at my hands too and it's interesting that I can see my mothers hands in my own, as well as my grandma's.
If only my hands had always done the Lords will and not my own.

I live each day the best I can. I thank God for every tiny little thing that I have. I would like to write the book that is in my heart to write... or should I say... finish it. God sees us at the core of who we are... and He still loves us anyway. He is the reason and purpose I exist in this world... and He has entrusted me with a family to care for... and with a heart to share with others how much He loves everyone. (This is a note to self... "Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. Malachi 3:10")

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. ~1 Corinthians 13~
